A) I was a doctor for many
years before entering politics in the 1980s. In 1991, I became
the governor of Vermont and was governor for more than 11 years.
B) In 2004, I decided to run
for the presidency. For a while I was favored to win the Democratic
nomination, but I lost to John Kerry. In 2005, I became the head
of the Democratic National Committee, the group that runs the
Democratic Party.
C) In the current race for
the Democratic nomination, the primaries in the states of Michigan
and Florida have not been counted because those states did not
follow the party's rules. Now, because the race is so close,
many people want to find a way to count the delegates from those
states. I have said that the best thing to do may be to hold
new primaries that follow the rules. But I've also said the states
would have to figure out a way to pay for the do-over elections.
