The EPA is a group that protects the land, air, and water in the United States. The EPA makes and enforces rules about the U.S. environment. The EPA also gives money to state groups that work to protect the environment. About 18,000 people work for the EPA. C. The Senate had to approve me as the EPA's new leader. After a lot of discussion and argument, the Senate voted for me. Some senators thought that I would not be tough enough on companies that pollute the environment.
